I recently had the opportunity to speak with/interview a lady who requested that her identity be kept anonymous - However, for the sake of this publication, I've decided to name her Esther!

So, Esther had met this dude at a religious event, precisely at a church event, they exchanged contacts and they started as just friends, and as time went on, they sort of started feeling some chemistry for each other and decided to go into a full-blown emotional relationship, which lasted for about 1 year and some months.

Not until sometime during the Covid-19 period in 2020 when he called her to come over to his place that they needed to talk. She went and they spent time together, had fun together (and by fun you should understand what that means) and after all has been done, dude finally broke the news, it was a bad news.

He said he was no longer interested in the relationship, that he would like for them to go their separate ways, Esther left there so heartbroken and clueless about how she would cope with her life, because she had trusted so much in him and thought this was really a thing. Well, unfortunately, it wasn't at all.

Fast forward to a month after the drama, she started having this strange feeling within herself, kind of sick and it wasn't funny, so she decided to go for checkup to get treatment, only to be told that she was pregnant.

Pregnant? What?

She called her ex whom of course was the only person she has had any form of sexual relationship with for the period this was happening, she told him that she was tested and the results came out positive, but to her greatest shock!

He out-rightly denied the pregnancy, saying he wasn't responsible for it and dropped, all her effort to get him to understand that he was the person who was responsible for the unborn child proved abortive.

This threw Esther into another episode of dilemma and emotional catastrophe, with no one to depend on, Esther was fighting a war that was either going to conquer her or one that would change her life's trajectory forever.

And to make matters worse, when Esther's father discovered what had happened, he felt so disappointed in her, and instead of supporting her so that she can be emotionally stable to carry on, rather, he disowned her.

Wow! This added another layer to the pain and bleeding she was experiencing internally - Anyone could have easily told Esther to simply go ahead and abort the child, after-all, it hasn't even properly formed into a baby yet, but the decision she made to keep the baby was a critical one.

Esther decided that no matter what, this child would come to life and would get all the love and care that he or she deserves. And so, 9 months came and Esther delivered of a beautiful baby girl.

After she delivered of the baby, he (her ex) finally called and said he has accepted the baby, and he started sending money for the things the baby would need - But he did not accept Esther to be his wife, he only accepted the baby, well, fair enough right?

No, after the child clocked 1 year and 9 months, he went back to his old ways and refused to send money for his daughter's upkeep, and since that time until this day, he hasn't showed any interest(s) whatsoever.

Esther has been a father and a mother to her child since the child's father has refused to continue taking up his responsibilities. She has been raising her child even with the little she's earning from a menial job that she's currently doing, which is barely meeting her needs and that of her daughter, but she's determined to be a good example no matter what, and she has decided that she isn't giving up on life nor will she give up on her daughter.

  4. I commend your courage, dear Esther
and I truly understand what you are going through because I have been in your shoes only that my father didn't reject me but I took responsibility for me and my boy alone. He's four years+ today and we're far better than we were. All I have to say to you is to be strong in the Lord. God will always make a way. Don't even consider compromising because that will bring more pains to you. Help will come and God doesn't forsake the one that trusts in Him. Trust Him.
